Pharmaceutics

The Department of Pharmaceutics is one of the key departments of the Institute. The department offers a two year full-time M.S. (Pharm) program in pharmaceutics. It comprehends basic as well as applied research in drug delivery formulation design and their assessment in suitable model. Major thrust area of the department is to improve the efficacy of drug for better health care.

The Department also offers a M.S. (Pharm.) Degree with specialization in Regulatory Affairs. In this two-year program, the students are admitted through NIPER-JEE examination conducted every year. Its curriculum has been designed to equip the students with the skills necessary for understanding the procedures related to approval and licensing the drugs, biologics, medical devices and healthcare products in regulated markets. This program covers the guidelines of national and international regulatory bodies (US-FDA, EMA and others). With this coverage, the students will be able to comprehend the laws governing manufacturing, distribution commercialization and life cycle of biomedical products.

The research activity of the department includes exploitation of nanotechnology for the development of polymeric and lipid based nanomedicine of different therapeutic class for controlled and site-specific drug delivery.
